I got mine in the 6th grade, and having seen more than my share of chick flicks, I thought people would make fun of me for them in high school. So, I made my ortho-dude promise that they'd be off by high school. Of course, he promised. Well, a few months to high school, and that jackass hasn't told me I'm getting them off.

Braces suck, haha. It'll feel so weird when you get them off, and you'll be licking the front of your teeth a lot.

I had a brace spanning across 3 of my teeth following a tragic basketballing accident. They didn't get all of the cement off, which caused my top right canine tooth to develop horrendous calcification because my toothbrush couldn't remove the plaque around the cement adequately. Now I have a shallow cavity that's about 3mm long and .5mm wide. :/

That was actually part of the problem. Because of the urgency (would have lost two teeth if we hadn't gotten it fixed right away...and I couldn't close my mouth until we got it fixed) we couldn't afford to wait for an orthodontist to look at it, so the operation was done over the course of 4 painful hours and waaaaaay too much novacaine by the urgent care dentist at the clinic our family had been going to at the time, and when it came time to remove it, the procedure was similarly haphazard. To be honest, I'd be missing my two front teeth otherwise, so it's a pretty acceptable exchange.
