Before I say that I can modify red the ninja to look like a red Infernape. What is Gijinka? Is it a different style of cosplay?

Quote
Gijinka (擬人化) is a Japanese word meaning "humanoid", "personification", or "anthropomorphic", although the use of the word outside of Japan has come to be slightly different from the use of the word "anthropomorphic" in the anime/manga/furry/etc communities. Rather than referring to just any animal with human characteristics, a gijinka is most often a fan re-design of an animal-like character from an animation or graphic novel in a human or humanoid form, (ex: a Digimon or Pokémon) or of a humanoid version of the artist's own original animal-like character.
So Pokemon people. They have all the pictures of them in a photobuck shown below...

If I can convince my group to do Gijinka with me then I'll most likely be doing Poliwrath.

I really wanna do it... I'd even make a Poliwrath plushie to carry around <3

I will 100% be cosplaying Charizard. I couldnt find a good Gijinka pic so I am making one of my own imagination. Im super excited for this one.

Also David (Kalira on the Forums) will most likely also be going as Charizard so we both can go in male and female form. It just seems like a really fun project.

I plan to start on these probably a month from now. Baby is due in 10 days now! And I need some time to lose a bit of weight before I start the costumeing parts but I can start the wings, horns, tail and accessories now. Yay! (Oh and if baby were going he would totally be a charmander, but he wont be going this year.)

I'll add everyone who is for sure to the list now. I agree on the photoshoot, but it would probably be best to wait 'til the con is a little closer to decide on a day and time.

Osalpedo, you said earlier that you'd be doing Poliwrath if your group agreed to it. Does that mean they are going to do Ginjinka too?

Nice, nice. I'm glad to see more people getting into this now. Is there a park somewhere near the new convention area? I was thinking it would be fun to do it in the park across from the doubletree and then realized Kumoricon is not there anymore.

@Trumby-
You're decision is yes. Ha ha.
And yay parks! Though I'm not sure if people would want to wander that far from the convention.

@Kameko-
I know it's really hard. What helped me what I chose was first my favorite Pokemon (which didn't work out, Alakazams hair is too much for Kcon), my favorite set (like the original 150, gold and silver, etc. I don't know the rest of the games), and materials I already had so I didn't have to spend too much money. Hope that helps you on your decision.

I think Kameko would make a super cute Teddiursa =3

So for my Poliwrath I'm stuck between two pairs of boots from cosworx. Which of these two should I get for it?

http://www.cosworx.com/product.php?productid=26211&cat=2430&page=2

http://www.cosworx.com/product.php?productid=26120&cat=2430&page=1

I'd be getting them in Navy Blue no matter which pair I decided on 8D

I almost wouldn't suggest knee highs for it. It would almost be better to find flats of that color and get some blue thigh highs to go with them. I think the shiny leather and heel would look a little weird.
That is just me though, out of the two of those I would choose the one with the thicker heel, easier to walk in and such.

i agree with boogie pop. that stuff looks like plasticy type fabric so your legs and feet would get really sweaty. but if you absolutly had to i would say the thicker heeled ones. not as dangerous. and sometimes the thin heeled ones can break if used to much. my friends heel broke while she was going down stairs and she had to wear an ankle brace for a week or two.

I might just get the thicker heeled ones because I really like them... or I'll look around for blue flats, etc

As for the blue wig I have no clue how I'll style the odango things! I'm tempted to bleach my hair and dye it blue for this 8D

Wow, this thread has grown since I was last here!

I can't wait for the photoshoot, it'll be so awesome. Kinda sad that we won't be able to have a park right next to the hotel like last time though... Surely there has to be something around, three blocks away isn't so bad, right? And if we went 6 blocks to the Waterfront it could be a photoshoot/lunch event? Pokemon take over Portland!!! =)

Trumby - My vote is for Empoleon!!! =D

Another cool link: http://s719.photobucket.com/albums/ww195/PokemonGijinkaCosplay/

It has the pictures then if a cosplayer has cosplayed them, a picture of the cosplay.

Also if I could get some advice on good gijinka to do, in case I do end up not doing Heracross, that'd be great.
My pics are in the "Who should I cosplay thread" so I'm not going to post them here.

Man of the Public you know who you should do, GANGSTA.

Anyways, I thought I'd put this out there now. I wanted to plan a get together during the summer for people doing Gijinka cosplays in Washington park (that's the big park/forest by the zoo) and take pictures in the wilderness like we're wild Pokemanz. And we can all bring our own lunch or something eat eat in the grass afterwords. Yes/No?

Anyways, I thought I'd put this out there now. I wanted to plan a get together during the summer for people doing Gijinka cosplays in Washington park (that's the big park/forest by the zoo) and take pictures in the wilderness like we're wild Pokemanz. And we can all bring our own lunch or something eat eat in the grass afterwords. Yes/No?

Yes! That sounds like tons of fun! I think it should be on a weekend (like Friday or Saturday) fo shizzle if we do it at the end of June or July because I have summer school, or all of August is free for me. I'd be bringing our Teddiursa with me too 8D

You remember the goldeen dress misty wears in the episode of pokemon with the executor?
it's ok if you don't, considering I watched it yesterday.
But I was thinking that I could make that, and just use that ear glue stuff (the stuff you clue elf ears and fake noses on with) and glue a horn to my forehead.
I'm not sure if I will, but that would be fun.
I'll get my friend to draw it considering I have no drawing skills what so ever.

I have a friend who is definitely considering being vulpix, and I think she'd make a great one! Plus if i end up being goldeen then, me being a water pokemon her being a fire, I can kick her tush!
That makes me happy.

You can put the two of us down for those, ;cause we are seriously considering it.

Thankies,
Katie

+ (to Kameko's thing) HECK YEAH!
I'd so come down and join you guys, either in my bulbasaur costume (which I have randomly) or as goldeen.
hmmm... guess bulbasaur would be better, considering I really don't wanna get my dress wet... or I could just make a beedrill, or sandslash cosplay.
Yeah,
I should just end this post here,
i could just go on and on forever about pokemon
so I'm shutting up
bye
