You know it is a dress shirt, belt and slacks along with Leather shoes so MAYBE

Rather not have the MAX police stop me though..."Sir why are you completely stained in blood?"

And maybe I got a pic of you? Who knows.

You probably didn't. I was one of the people who didn't dress up for the con so I was probably an uninteresting subject matter anyways. (small Asian girl with glasses if it helps)

LOL @ the MAX Police thing though! xD

Every time I hear "Costume Ball," I think of something extravagant like a Masquerade - but just a bit more costume based. Idk why, but I like those kinds of things..xD

You don't have to wonder why; those kinds of things are pretty stylish. :)

I blame it on the movies. xD

I'm also curious about how formal the costumes need to be.  Like is it anything goes, semi-formal, ballroom?  So many possibilities!

I hope it's semi-formal. I like wearing pretty things, plus I have a dress that CAN be both for a formal occasion AND for cosplay.

I pm'd the OP and received word back that if you want to dress formally/semi-formally as in Masquerade Style clothing, that it's fine too.

I'm definitely going Masquerade Style!

Awesome, I'll definitely go masquarade style if I have time (sans mask of course, they don't work very well with glasses anyway...).  Should be a blast!

Do we know if there will be swing/ballroom dancing, or more of rave-style?

I may go to this.. since I probably won't have anything better going on.

And it'll give me a reason to get the 2 last pieces I need for my dress-suit Kakashi Hatake cosplay.

Even though this is a costume ball, I figure I should ask this anyway, just to be sure.

Are masks allowed? I was planning on having my face painted, and I just want to be sure that's within the rules before I make this my for sure costume.

What kind of dance?  It's my experience that learning different dance styles helps all my dancing.  :)

The DJ will have music appropriate to Swing (East Coast/West Coast/Lindy, which actually covers a lot of music, including modern stuff) and whatever we provide to him.  I may provide a modern Tango song for myself.  If you have any specific requests, please PM me.

Yeah, I was intentionally unclear in the hopes that everyone would interpret that themselves.  :)

I guess I was thinking in terms of long pants and button-up shirts for the gentlement and the equivalent for the ladies.

The contest isn't anime exclusive I'm guessing. Game characters count also? (Cloud, Mario, Sora, and therefore disney characters, etc.)

I'ma coming as someone Super. With something meant to protect me from the rain...not a parasol.

I have a CD of various anime/game music that can be played randomly in any order. I'll PM the playlist.

AS far as i understand, its a costume contest for any kind of costume, not just anime or video game characters.

Have fun for us! :'D

Well, those of us who aren't sick appreciate your sacrifice.  Hope you feel better.  :(

Reporting live from the event, the East Coast Swing lesson is one-third complete and the DJed music is set to start just before 8.

If you're reading this and plan to come, there's no better time to head up here.  :)

So you're Vault Dweller 13! I loved your costume and am a bit envious. I couldn't dress up in a costume so I dressed in a dress that I always wanted to wear out.

The Ball was fun! Are you guys going to plan another one?

btw - I was in the light purple-gray dress. Came in with Altair. =)

Hey there, I was the male Link that showed up. :) I had a blast; it was worth the trip from Eugene/Springfield. I didn't know people quite as well as other events, but everybody was well worth talking to. Thanks so much for the gift certificate, Wil. It's the first time I've won anything with that costume, partially because I have yet to enter the cosplay contest at a con.

My only regret is that I missed the Zelda Temple Trance Remix that I requested. :( Took awhile to get my dang costume on. But on the plus side we had a nice little mini-party in the bathroom, it seems... :-X
