Have you ever tried the sharpie method?
I've tried it like twice and it's failed until I put the marker directly onto the wig after spraying it XD

Really? It's never really worked for me!
How many sharpies did you use or like what percent alcohol did you use?

I didn't use alcohol or anything, I just used a regular brown sharpie and took it straight to the wig. It only took me one sharpie for my whole wig but that's likely because it was so short (it was my Meiko wig, see avatar for an examle 8-D) ~

I would just be afraid that it would bleed onto the costume. Most of the costume has white on it >_>

I agree with Nikki (Nikkiyesx2~), both styles are cute, but I think the redder one would work better for you, since the character is red and all.

I'm not sure what to do with my Botan wig.

That's the wig, but the thing is that I have to pull it back in to a high ponytail. Any advice on how to get it in to a ponytail without the wig-cap showing?

Thanks,

OLD THREAD IS OLD I KNOW

but I need some help ) :

Im deciding on wigs for rosette *sigh*

this is rosette

so heres option 1

http://cgi.ebay.com/Fashion-Long-Layered-Blonde-salon-Wigs-hair-care-a22_W0QQitemZ350230926506QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_CSA_MWA_Wigs_Extensions?hash=item518b63d4aa&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

its the right color, and to me it looks right. the thing is though I would have to trim the bangs, and cut it a good deal but I dunno i like it

and then theres option 2

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-PALE-GOLD-BLONDE-MEDIUM-WAVY-WOMENS-FULL-WIG-E5048_W0QQitemZ390073184351QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_CSA_MWA_Wigs_Extensions?hash=item5ad22c705f&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

i dont like the color as much, but its the right style and it wouldnt need much fixing up and its a bit cheaper... but thats the thing it looks cheap to me...

I like the first one better and it wouldn't be too hard to cut the bangs, or any other part of it. As long as you take your time.

I thought I'd ask you crafty wig folk and get some extra opinions.
My boyfriend is going to be Professor Oak at Kumoricon.

Not a very hard costume minus the hair, but that's where I'm stuck.
I wanted to first ask if this wig would be a good base wig to start with, http://amphigory.com/wigs_mysterious_woman.html or if anyone else had any suggestions. I'm sure the spikes on the side would be no problem to do, I'm just worried what I should do about that other side. Cut it short? try to gel it up into the spikes or something? I'm kinda at a loss here.

Red here too.
Katie Bair did a Jesse wig a while back, and she used a whole can of hairspray on it. That's just a warning, because the wig seems like a whole lot of work.

My Dad was professor Oak last year, but he has gray hair, so he just took his hair and spiked it.
I'd go with a short gray wig and cut it so one side was longer than the other.

Ask me in a few weeks.
We're taking my mom's pink curly wig and dying greyish for genkai, so then I'll know.

Chichi: I would go for the first one
Sahara: Red is my vote
Boogie: That wig looks good for him.
naygo: if your looking for a lighter color and you have a hard color wig there's no way to make it lighter.
I'm not sure how wig dying would work but you can't make it lighter with the sharpie dye method.
There's no way to make a wig ligher, unless you know what wig dye works.
I would email the sender about the color and see what they can do about it

My hair is SIMILAR to that of the character I'm roleplaying as.
Can I skip the wig and find a way to style it without being called a noob?

Do you have any ref pics of your hair and the character? Sometimes one's own hair can work but most often a wig looks best.

From a personal standpoint I'd definately reccomend getting a wig. Since Sakura's hair is semi-complex.

i am going as sasori, and i was thinking i might as well just style my hair. it's doesn't seem to hard. i  have looked at other cosplays of him and it seems easy. i also already got the right hair dye.

sadly this is my only picture with my hair normal...

and here is a wig, (my hair will be darker) the style is right, so i think it should work.

Ideas?

@Starry-- I would say that you pin up the top layers and comb it carefully curl by curl, then do the middle layers, then the top.
Or get it all wet with hot water, brush it out, and re-set the curls... if you like torture.

I want to use my own hair for Rikku, but I don't think it'll be enough, should I get extensions for the braids and ponytail, or should I just get a wig for the whole?
