That wig is indeed too dark. My friend cosplays Kida and I even recommended the wig to her and it's a fairly blonde color, not brunette. Your wig is also too dark to dye into a lighter color. Is there anyone you know who may have a wig you could borrow? (And if someone proves me wrong about dying it, I apologize!)

Oh hai there. I have a white/silverish wig for my Gintoki (Gintama) cosplay; however, I have zero wig styling skills. Is there a place I could go to have someone style it (so I don't end up needing to buy a new wig when I mess it up... -_-)?

Panicking here a bit .___.
Cosplaying Stocking...this is my first wig I've ever managed and I accidentally dropped it on the floor. It's a horrible mess now.

I'm using a wide tooth brush, conditioner, water, patience....an hour later and it looks like this

What do I do ;___; is it ruined?

Just a lot of patience. I suggest putting conditioner in and combing it before rinsing, then rinse the wig while holding it straight, if possible. Also let it dry hanging. I would also comb it once after rinsing.

I've been doing what you said for the past hour and it just gets worse, since the hair crinkles instead of goes straight.
XP if I keep brushing it I keep pulling the hair out and breaking it, causing it to curl up and bunch up with the hair above, it's a horrible cycle...

Well my wig is officially ruined XP
brushing it pulled the hair from the top of the wig (where it meets the head) and pulled it into irreversible loops.
Too late to buy another one ;3; what do I do

Were you brushing from the top down? That's the only way I could think that you could get that mess. If you comb/brush from the bottom up you don't have that problem. As for what you can do... Put out a serious want to buy on the swap meet forum or try to find a wig store nearby that carries long wigs in various colors and put one on top of the other. *shrug*

Brush from the bottom up. Try brushing it while it's running under water, I find that helps with long wigs.

Also, if you want, I could probably brush it out the night of Day 0 if you're there. I've brushed/styled quite a few long wigs. I own 4 myself.

ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a wig commissioned in january from this girl in new jersey and she has a good track record. But, because of a death in her family she wasnt able to finish my wig until last month. Then an error on my part happend I forgot to tell her I moved back in with my parents So when she shipped the wig it shipped to Medford. Am I going to look rediculous if i just wear my costume without a wig. I dont want all the money spent on my cosplay to go to waste even if its unfinished..

I got a couple of long Miku-type pigtail clips from them, but not a full wig. They aren't the best fibers and are kind of thin in comparison to the other ponytail clip wig extensions I have.

Hello, all,
I'm working on a cosplay for Vinyl Scratch over here, and was wondering about a good way to dye a wig with streaks of a second color in a controlled fashion?  Any help would be amazing.

Thanks!

Thanks!

The easiest method that pops to mind is using a base wig in the lighter color, then directly sharpie-ing the dark blue in.

I don't really mess with dyeing a lot, though, so if anyone else has a more helpful method, chime in. :>

I Can't recall how many times I've depended on this thread XD. But here I am again.
So Next year I'm doing a leafeon cosplay for all three days and I need help finding a clip on ponytail that matches this wig. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2124-New-Short-Platinum-Blonde-Fashion-Man-Wigs-/290504508384?pt=US_CSA_MWA_Wigs_Extensions&hash=item43a36b03e0 My other Idea was should I get a green ponytail instead? because I'm doing part of the bangs in green.

You'll most likely want a wig cap, its like a sock for your head and it keeps the wig from looking awkward when being warn, buying a wig comb is also probably a good idea depending on length because longer wigs tangle like there's no tomorrow. *Glares at own purple wig*

Okies, are nylon wig caps good? Cuz the beauty supply has those kinds for cheap. Also, if i cant find a white one, can blond wigs be dyed white?

^Yes, nylon wig caps are good. I actually prefer them to mesh.

Wigs cannot be dyed/bleached to a lighter shade. Bleach does nothing and dye can only make them darker.
So if you want white, you're going to need a white wig.

I always try searching eBay for wigs before other places. If I was in Portland I'd just go to Wigland, but sadly I am not. What style/length do you need for your white wig?

I found a wig! two of them actually. One at spirit halloween and one on ebay. So now I need some help. Im doing a hello kitty cosplay, kinda like a hello kitty gijinka.
Which wig would be better?

this one from ebay :
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Short-Silvery-White-Cosplay-Party-Turnup-Wig-/260838411617?pt=US_CSA_MWA_Wigs_Extensions&hash=item3cbb2e4d61

or this one from spirit halloween :
http://www.spirithalloween.com/product/white-wig-with-bow1/

And yes, before you ask, the second one is a lady gaga wig -_-

I'm definitely going to suggest the first one just because I think it would be cuter for hello kitty, and also because wigs that come from Halloween Costume stores are usually cheap because that's the quality of them as well. especially longer wigs. Also Longer wig like that tangle like no tomorrow.

Which wig should I use for Eruka color-wise? Ref: http://onlyhdwallpapers.com/wallpaper/kawapaper_soul_eater_eruka_frog_gekko_found_some_more_manga_anime_desktop_1600x1200_wallpaper-55241.jpg

Number One: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Anime-Long-Silver-Straight-Cosplay-Party-Hair-Wig-YL205-/250858747583?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a6858b6bf#ht_4280wt_1163

Number Two: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Anime-Wig-Cosplay-Party-Long-Silver-White-Straight-40-/270802642477?pt=US_CSA_MWA_Wigs_Extensions&hash=item3f0d18662d#ht_1660wt_1396

I personally like number two more cuz I like the slight shine to it(looks super soft), but I want an opinion or two. And I will be trimming them, whichever one I end up using, so just asking about colors. Please and thank you~!

Colleen~ I like number two. It works perfectly I think ♥

So I think I found a couple wigs. when I get the chance I'm going to pack up alot of my stuff to take home and get wig heads to hold my wigs while i'm here at job corps, and little boxes for my costumes.

If they doesn't work help me find another one?

what do you guys think of this for Namine ? I feel like all I would have to do is Straighten it. I'm tired of getting piece of crap wigs for her every year that I wanna get a good one that will last for a long time.

and what about this one for   Patty Thompson
? I could go get the bangs trimmed if I needed too. Its not that much. I think I would maybe need to spike the back a little more outward, that may need to be commissioned.

as for Kari Kamiya from Digimon Adventure 02 . The one with Davis, Yolei, Cody and TK. This one is more difficult, but what if I just got the back thinned out and pinned the sides like normal?
Or what about maybe this one for her?
If neither of those, help me look? This wig is a big harder and I’m not using my own hair.

It depends. Some are and some aren't. I have gotten good wigs from them and some really crappy ones. Take it out of the bag before you buy it and look at the fibers and how they fall as well as how they look on your skin. If the shop lets you, try it on and see for yourself if it looks good.

For any kind of long wig I suggest putting conditioner and water in it, combing/brushing from the tips up, then rinsing, then combing again. Then clip it to something to dry while hanging straight down, or lay flat on a towel out of reach of things that would retangle it (such as a cat).
