Well, I doubt Efron will actually be cast. He is the kind of actor everybody throws out there right from the get-go just to stir discussion up. The chance of it actually happening is pretty minimal.
I personally don't like FMP, but I can still understand your stance. I actually have not been terribly angered over anime-live action conversions. Dragon Ball was an exception, as I could tell that would be awful...but generally I don't mind them. They are in the works to do Akira. I'm not upset about it, I love Akira and am not going to let myself get all stirred up, because I look at it like this: even if the movie is terrible, it isn't going to change the way I already feel about Akira. The only harm is in that people may not show interest in the original works because of the film (in any situation, not just Akira), and that could be very bad, but still, not going to ruin my day.
