Dragon Moon Festival

When: Sunday, June 7, 2009, 12:00 to 18:00

Details:

Kumoricon will be hosting an exhibitor table, cosplay shows, and artists at the Dragon Moon Festival, an Asian cultural festival for summer of 2009.

Find our table on the weekends of June 6-7. We will be presenting a one-hour cosplay show on Sunday, June 7.

Second schedule change: Unfortunately, the events after the first weekend of June 6-7 have been canceled. The Dragon Moon Festival plans to return for summer 2010.

This event began in 2006 as the Under the Autumn Moon Festival and has evolved into a 4-month event in 2009 with celebrations the first weekend of June, July, August and, September, 2009. We've adopted a new name: The Dragon Moon Festival. In ancient Chinese lore when the full moon rose and the dragon constellation was at its highest point in the sky, the moon's bright beams would shine with a special magical light. This was the Dragon Moon.

People would come out during that singular night and bathe themselves in the moonlight. It is said that the old become younger; the infirm find new health; the weary grow energized; and despair turns to joy. The legend says that stories told under the Dragon Moon will never be forgotten.
