About Kumoricon

What you need to know before the con…

1. Check-in...

All attendees—whether pre-registered or at-the-door, whether the badge was mailed or is being picked up—must bring:

  • Photo ID
  • If under age 18, parental permission form (if you have not mailed it already)
  • Your badge, if it was mailed

Have questions or issues? Check the registration page or forum Registration FAQ.

2. Rapid registration...

If you are registering at the door, speed things up and arrive with your registration form pre-filled out.

Fillable At-Con Registration Form [fillable PDF] – To type and print your info. (Faster!)

Blank At-Con Registration Form [PDF] – To handwrite your info.

3. Registration hours...

Friday: 1:00pm-9:00pm (pre-registration check-in and pick-up only)
Saturday: 7:00am-5:00pm
Sunday: 7:00am-5:00pm
Monday: 7:00am-12:00pm

At-the-door registration begins on Saturday.

Registration is located in the garage of the Hilton. If crowds are heavy, there may be times when you are waiting outdoors. Please come prepared for weather (including sunscreen) and possible high heat.

4. Policies...

Do you know when the minor curfew is? Whether you need to peace-bond your prop? Whether photography is allowed? What you can't put on a sign?

Find out.

5. Hand stamp for 18+ events...

Want to get into an 18+ panel? Plan ahead. Your ID and badge isn't enough. You need to bring these two things to the Programming Booth to get a hand stamp to enter these events. (After Programming Booth hours, head to the Programming Office instead. But plan ahead, because this takes longer!)

6. The schedule (the good stuff!)...

Did you know that the schedule exists in six formats, including a smartphone app, a live schedule on the website, and books included in your swag bag?

Start here to plan your con. Use the free Guidebook app for iOS and Android to view the Kumoricon schedule, maps, Twitter, photos, and more. Mark events to create a personalized schedule! After you install the app, search the guides for "Kumoricon".

Letter from the Con Chair

Ten years.

It doesn't seem all that long ago that Eugene, Oregon held court the first ever Kumoricon, and now we are planning our biggest celebration of anime, manga, and Japanese culture to date with our 10th year! Returning once again to the very popular Hilton Vancouver Washington, and the Red Lion Hotel Vancouver at the Quay, guests, exhibitors, panels, cosplay, friends, and so much fun are waiting for all of us come this September 1st-3rd.

So, what's going down this Labor Day weekend in Vancouver, Washington you ask? Your dedicated staff are still ironing out the details, but rest assured we plan to make K-Con 2012 the best year ever! And if you want to help us, check out the get involved page to learn more about staffing, volunteering, and CWE.

Our Con Chair Beau Gentry said it best last year: "We have a laid-back, family reunion feel that you don't see in cons with over 4,000 people very often." The energy around our fans and our community is one of friendship and support. If you are here to find good friends and great entertainment, you've come to the right place!

How exactly does a convention in the Portland metro area make year ten amazing? By spending it with the community that made it all possible! This year prepare to see more of us, have more chances to show your spirit, and get much more out of the convention. We want to look back at ten years of amazing memories, and make sure that 2012 is the best of them all! So bring your friends, bring your family, and make it a celebration of epic proportions, reminding everyone why we got into anime and why we still love it, year after year.

Check out the forums to find friends, cosplay groups, photoshoots and special Kumoricon-sponsored events. Pre-register early to get the best price on your ticket and have your badge in hand before all your friends. Subscribe to our news feed, or follow us on Twitter and Facebook to keep up to date on everything Kumoricon.

We can't wait to see you at the con!

Rejoicing in Reg: The Inside Scoop from the Assistant Registration Manager – Posted Aug. 29, 2011

An interview with Brian Mathews, Assistant Registration Manager. “I’d be happy to go over all of what it takes for attendees to get their badges. First, the attendee has to have ordered their badge through the website or the mail-in form available on our website. Once we get that information, either online or through the mail, we enter it all into a database, in which we run a program that pastes that information onto the badges attendees receive. We have ‘reg meetings’ every couple of weeks or so, where we print out anywhere from fifty to several hundred of these badges, as well as envelopes for them. We then package the badges onto the letter they come with ourselves, pack them into the envelopes, stamp them, and deliver them to the Post Office.”

Cosplay Skits: Pros Judge! You Vote! and You Can Still Enter! – Posted Aug. 29, 2011

An interview with Andie Letourneau, Cosplay Coordinator. “This year, I’m really looking forward to having our Guests of Honor, Todd Haberkorn, Chris Cason, and David Vincent, judging the skits. Since all three of them are voice actors, they bring with them a tremendous amount of experience and acting knowledge, which they will use in assessing the skits entered this year. Another highlight is that this year is the first year that we will have an ‘Audience Choice’ winner for Cosplay.”
